- Product Description
The IS-3 tank was first publicly presented during the Victory Parade held on September 7, 1945, in Berlin. Produced starting in April 1945, the powerful heavy tank was intended to terrify the Western Allies. A steel colossus weighing over 45 tons possessed highly inclined armor plates that made it easier for shells to ricochet. It was equipped with the 122mm D-25T gun known from the IS-2 tank. Despite its impressive weight, the IS-3 was relatively mobile thanks to its W-11 diesel engine. The IS-3 block tank was designed in a scale of 1:28 and imitates the extremely characteristic rounded shapes of its inspiration. The model, consisting of over 1,100 elements, is 35.5cm long when built. Under the removable turret there are accurately reproduced interior elements. A brick replica of the W-11 tank engine can be placed under the service hatch. There are also bricks with periscopes printed on the turret. The very difficult shapes of the tank have been reproduced using the latest elements created for the COBI Historical Collection! The tracks work while moving the tank and the turret also rotates and the barrel raises and lowers! The set includes a figure of a Soviet tank driver in a characteristic navy-blue suit. The real IS-3 tank was created as a response to German heavy tanks. The block model will look great on a shelf alongside the largest German and American vehicles from the COBI Historical Collection! Build history, piece by piece, with COBI. |
